Mitchell S. King chairs Prince, Lobel, Glovsky & Tye’s Insurance and Reinsurance Practice Group. Prior to joining Prince Lobel in 2000, he was the partner in charge of the Reinsurance practice group at Morrison, Mahoney & Miller in Boston, where he began his insurance and reinsurance practice in 1981 and became a partner in 1988.
Mitchell's career has focused on the insurance industry and he has counseled and represented major US and London Market insurers and reinsurers in disputes involving a wide range of property and casualty, disability and other life, accident and health coverages. He has litigated a number of seminal reinsurance cases including cases on coverage for declaratory judgment expenses and the scope and definition of facultative reinsurance. He is currently involved in counseling, litigation and arbitration in the US and London on diverse matters including environmental and toxic tort, asbestos/products, medical stop-loss and workers compensation carve-out. He also advises clients on insurance and reinsurance contract drafting and counsels and litigates on agency, contract and other disputes between insurers, agents, brokers and MGAs.
A frequent speaker at insurance and reinsurance conferences and seminars in the US and the UK, Mitchell brings extensive knowledge and expertise to his leadership role in Prince Lobel's Insurance and Reinsurance Practice Group.
Mitchell is a 1977 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and a 1981 graduate of Northeastern University Law School. He is a member of the ABA, MBA and ARIAS.
